Reference Standards Note (Informational): Depending on destination country, buyers commonly request testing aligned with food-contact migration methods (e.g., EU 10/2011 / EN 1186), compostability test methods (e.g., ISO 14855, ISO 16929, EN 13432 test methods, ASTM D5338/D5988/D6866), and related physical/microbiological protocols. We coordinate custom testing with accredited independent laboratories per your target market requirements.

Critical Export Compliance Checklist

Finished biodegradable areca leaf plates shrink-wrapped for export container
Shrink-wrapped dinnerware sets stacked with silica gel packs to prevent transit moisture ingress.

Before packing a Full Container Load (FCL) at Cochin or Chennai ports, ensure your factory processes meet international criteria:

  • Compostability Certifications: Exporters must present laboratory tests proving biodegradability under IS/ISO 17899 (India), ASTM D6400 / D6868 (USA), or EN 13432 (Europe). We provide guidance to pass CIPET laboratory validations.
  • Food-Contact Safety: SGS or TUV testing is required to verify heavy metal migration thresholds, ensuring zero toxin transfer from heat molds.
  • Phytosanitary Certificate & Fumigation: Shipments must undergo professional Methyl Bromide or Aluminium Phosphide fumigation prior to container sealing to prevent insect infestations.
  • Moisture Threshold: Leaves must be dried below 10% moisture before sealing in shrink-wrap to prevent fungal bloom in high-humidity transit.

Sourcing Pitfall

Failing to fumigate the container cargo or omitting silica gel packs inside the retail cartons. This leads to cargo rejection at European ports.
